Overview



We are seeking a highly motivated Corporate Accountant to join our finance team. The Corporate Accountant is responsible for performing core accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. A key focus of this role will be managing Accounts Receivable and performing bank reconciliations as well as acting as the first escalation point for any accounting issues.

Job Responsibilities and Duties



Daily



Manage and maintain Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, collections, customer reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies.

Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a regular basis and investigate variances.

Record and review daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Provide occasional support to Accounts Payable (AP) with coding and documentation as required.

Weekly



Review and monitor AR aging and follow up on overdue accounts.

Perform weekly cheque deposits and ensure accurate posting.

Ensure AR workflows remain current and escalate issues to the Finance Manager as needed.

Support cash flow monitoring activities.

Monthly



Support the month-end close process by posting journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, and preparing supporting schedules.

Complete all AR and Bank reconciliations.

Own intercompany reconciliations for all entities and ensure balances reconcile.

Prepare remittances, account reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries.

Perform and review credit card reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is complete.

Month-End Close and Financial Oversight



Support the Finance Manager with audits, year-end tasks, and financial statement preparation and reporting.

Provide additional month-end support for other entities as required.

Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and controls across accounting processes

Monitor and analyze variances and investigate discrepancies.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities as assigned

Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and complete financial data.

Liaise with the Finance Manager on issues, variances, and process improvement opportunities.

A. Skill Factors (education, experience, communication, technical, etc.)



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2-5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.

Strong understanding of GAAP.

Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Strong analytical skills and experience with reconciliations and month-end close.

CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset.

C. Working Conditions



Works standard 37.5 hours per week; however, job requirements will include additional and/or extended work time as the business dictates, e.g. during month-end and year-end close.

This job is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment and the employee will be stationed at a desk with computer/printer and telephone

The duties for this job will primarily be performed using IT tools, thereby requiring prolonged sitting periods in front of a computer screen.
