HKC Construction is hiring a Corporate Accountant to support our growth and strengthen our finance function. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, cost tracking, budgeting, and compliance across our construction projects and corporate operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with management to provide timely financial information and support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all transactions.
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with year-end close and work with external accountants/auditors as required.
Project & Job Costing
Track and analyse project/job costs, including labour, materials, subcontractors, and overheads.
Reconcile project budgets to actuals and highlight variances.
Support project managers with cost reports and financial insights for active jobs.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Monitor performance against budget and prepare variance analysis.
Provide financial input for planning, pricing, and resource allocation.
Cash Management & AP/AR Oversight
Support cash flow management and forecasting.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card accounts.
Help manage vendor and client account issues when needed.
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and relevant tax regulations.
Maintain proper documentation and internal controls over financial transactions.
Assist with preparation of information for tax filings and government reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement
Work with management to improve accounting processes, reporting, and controls.
Support implementation or optimisation of accounting/ERP and project management systems.
Qualifications
Required
Professional accounting designation in progress or completed (e.g., CPA) or equivalent experience.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably including work in construction, real estate, or a project-based environment.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes.
Solid Excel/Sheets skills and experience with accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Clear communication skills and ability to work with both finance and operations teams.
Preferred
Experience with construction job costing and WIP reporting.
Experience with project management or construction-specific software.
Prior experience in a multi-entity or group structure.
Timing
This role is planned to be filled in the New Year. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews in the coming weeks, with an expected start date early in the new calendar year.

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
