ABOUT THE ROLE

The Core Cutting Technician supports our Treasure Island exploration program in Grand Falls-Windsor by cutting drill core preparing samples for laboratory analysis, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to perform physical labour in a field setting. This role will work closely with the Project Geologist and field team to ensure accurate and efficient sample handling.

Schedule:

9 days on, 5 days off / 8AM to 6PM

WE WILL TRUST YOU TO... (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

Core Cutting and Sampling

: Operate a diamond saw or core splitter to cut drill core samples according to specifications, ensure proper sequence, minimal sample loss or contamination, and maintain consistent sample quality and integrity.

Core Verification and Labelling

: Verify core box identification and footage marking before cutting and confirm correct labelling and organization of core boxes to maintain full traceability.

Sample Preparation:

Bag, tag, and label core samples accurately - preparing before shipping to the laboratory, ensuring chain of custody and the correct sample order.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform routine pre-shift inspections, cleaning, maintenance of core cutting saws and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Safety and Housekeeping:

Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain an organized, hazard-free work area.

Ad-hoc:

Assist the field team and Project Geologist with additional related tasks assigned.

YOU WILL NEED TO BE/BRING... (QUALIFICATIONS)

Previous experience in mineral exploration or a core cutting/lab support role is an asset. Valid driver's licence. Valid First Aid certification is an asset, or willingness to obtain training. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and handling up to 50lbs, stand for extended periods, and working safely in variable outdoor conditions. A strong commitment to workplace safety regulations and procedures, and the use of PPE. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and reporting field issues.
