Copywriter, Senior Associate

Position Summary

The Copywriter oversees all content initiatives across multiple platforms and formats to drive engagement, enhance customer experience, and drive acquisitions and customer retention.

This individual is an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization, brand consistency, segmentation and localization, analytics and meaningful measurement. The position collaborates across departments and teams to bring the brand vision and pillars to life for our customers and prospects.

Responsibilities

The role consists of developing, optimizing and implementing content initiatives in all forms to drive new business and help customers with education whenever possible. This includes:

Creating content and ensuring it's on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, mobile, social, video, email, collateral and customer service, and always delivering on the intent.

Demonstrating knowledge of industry trends and developing creative strategies and executions that can market products effectively.

Acting as an arbiter of best practices in brand voice, messaging, writing and style.

Participating in and understanding marketing research survey results.

Developing and maintaining standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing.

Conducting periodic competitive audits.

Ensuring a consistent customer experience.

Success Criteria

The Copywriter is measured on the continual improvement of customer awareness, engagement, conversion and retention through content/storytelling.

Success criteria include:

Positive brand recognition and consistency across published channels.

An increase in defined customer engagement metrics (measured by users taking the desired action ... i.e., applying, subscribing, self-servicing, etc.).

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related marketing communications field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in multichannel content creation (consumer marketing, publishing, journalism, etc.).

Experience creating compelling messages for different target demographics.

Experience with major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, G Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).

Skills Required

The Copywriter requires both a marketing and publishing mindset. In essence, this role is the brand storyteller that must be able to put the customer at the forefront of their work - addressing the pain points and needs of the customer. Specific skills required include:

Proven editorial and marketing skills.

Outstanding command of English.

Training in how to tell a story using words, images, or audio, and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience and successfully educates and empowers customers to self-serve.

The ability to work closely with a team of creative personnel and content creators to help achieve company and department goals.

Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics.

The ability to think like an educator, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.

Clear articulation of the business goal and strategy behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content.

Leadership skills required to define and manage a set of goals involving different contributors and content types

Project management skills to manage workflow and deadlines.

Highly successful negotiator and mediator.

Very collaborative and open to new ways of working.

Incredible people skills.

A willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the fly.

Great powers of persuasion and presentation.
