Position Overview
'Na Aksa Gyilak'yoo School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team in a combined role as a kindergarten to grade 4 Numeracy
Teacher (.6 F.T.E) and
Grade K/1 (.4 F.T.E) Classroom Teacher
. This position is ideal for someone who values holistic education and is committed to integratingTsimshian language and culture
into daily teaching practices.Key Responsibilities
Literacy (.6 FTE):
Plan and deliver engaging literacy instruction across multiple grade levels. Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Collaborate with staff to implement school-wide literacy initiatives. Use assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth.Grade K/1 Classroom (.4 FTE):
Teach core subjects including , science, social studies, and art. Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.Cultural Integration:
Embed Tsimshian language and cultural teachings into all aspects of the curriculum. Collaborate with Elders, cultural workers, and community members to enrich student learning. Participate in and lead cultural events and ceremonies as part of the school community.Qualifications
BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification). Experience teaching literacy and/or primary grades. Knowledge of or willingness to learn Tsimshian language and cultural practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to Indigenous education and reconciliation.Application Process
