Job Description

Coordinator, Youth Settlement Services

Full-Time | Hybrid - Edmonton

Connector. Guide. Innovator.

You bring people and ideas together, guiding teams and partners to co-create practical, youth-centred solutions that help newcomers belong and thrive.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Youth Settlement Services, leads a dynamic team that supports newcomer youth as they build stability, belonging, and confidence as they adapt to life in Canada. Working within the

Enhanced Settlement Workers in Schools (ESWIS)

program, this role blends people leadership, program coordination, daily operations, supervision and coaching and partnership development to create supportive, inclusive pathways for youth and their families.

Reporting to the Manager, Settlement Services, the Coordinator ensures programs are delivered with care and impact, the team is thriving and engaged, and services are aligned with funder expectations, organizational priorities, and a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

What You Will Do

Lead and coordinate youth-focused settlement programs for newcomer youth that promote belonging and participation, aligned to funder outcomes. Supervise and coach staff, fostering a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative environment. Build and maintain relationships with schools, youth, and community partners to improve access and outcomes. Support program planning, scheduling, and reporting; meeting funder and organizational requirements. Use data systems to track activities, measure outcomes, and inform program improvements. Represent the Newcomer Centre at community tables and collaborative networks, advocating for youth-centred, inclusive practice. Contribute to budget monitoring, evaluation processes, and cross-team initiatives.

What It Takes

A mix of strategic thinking and practical action, able to see different perspectives in the context of a problem and solution. Curiosity, flexibility, and the ability to learn, adapt, and guide others through change. Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to engage with diverse partners. Emotional intelligence and the ability to create psychological safety and trust within teams. A collaborative spirit that values collective success over individual control. Strong leadership and people skills, able to motivate, guide, and support diverse teams. A balance of empathy and accountability, grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice. Confidence in coordinating multiple projects and priorities in fast-moving environments. Comfort using technology and data tools to monitor progress and report on results. A deep commitment to newcomer youth empowerment, collaboration, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

We recognize that people grow and learn in many ways. Success in this role blends formal learning with hands-on experience coordinating programs, settlement services, and building community partnerships that empower newcomer youth and families.

Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences, or related field; or equivalent education and experience. Five (5) years' experience in settlement or youth programming, including coordination or supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate programs that meet funder and community needs. Strong understanding of immigration and settlement systems and the barriers that newcomer youth and families face. Proficiency in digital tools (Microsoft 365, iSTEDY, or similar platforms). Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence and access to reliable transportation. A clear Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) and a Child Intervention Record Check (CIRC) are required as conditions of employment.

Preferred/Asset Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Social Work. Training in trauma-informed practice, intercultural communication, or youth engagement. Sector certifications such as the Certified Settlement Practitioner (AAISA) or Settlement Studies Certificate (NorQuest College).
