We have a rich history of consistently driving innovation, harnessing cutting-edge technology, and cultivating a dynamic environment that empowers our employees to shape the future.Reporting to the Training Lead, the Trades Training Coordinator is responsible for managing the Apprenticeship and Trades Technical training for Highland Valley Copper.Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Manage Apprentice Development using industry and site standards to ensure apprentice success
  • Maintaining accurate records of training activities, attendance, evaluations, and certifications for compliance purposes and future reference.
  • Coordinating training logistics, including scheduling training sessions, reserving training venues or online platforms, arranging trainers or facilitators, and managing training resources and materials.
  • Work with Apprentices and Supervisors to coordinate apprentice activities such as schooling and technical training
  • Coordinate apprentice crew/shift rotations to increase apprentice exposure to related work (with supervisor and department input)
  • Meet with apprentices monthly (minimum) to ensure they are following their learning plan
  • Meet with apprentices and supervisors/senior supervisors quarterly (minimum) to track progress and next steps in the apprentice development
  • Meet with Education Providers to ensure schooling availability, apprentice performance and opportunities for program improvement
  • Work with trades groups across site to ensure knowledge base is supporting work force requirements by attending weekly update meetings
  • Continuously develop training material directly related to apprentice development
  • Update apprentice hours monthly
  • Provide support to students and maintain communication with instructors and stakeholders.
  • Provide monthly updates to Training Lead and Trades Committee
  • Coordinating Trades technical training with Maintenance departments - ongoing skills development
  • Manage training center assets, including computers, books, tools, and supplies used in training programs.
  • Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, assess learning outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate & assist facilitation of new hire training Site Orientation sessions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of Gr.12 or equivalent;
  • Exemplary safety leadership
  • Personable, adaptable, and energetic;
  • Five years of open pit mining or training preferred;
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to anticipate and address potential issues or challenges, such as technical difficulties or participant conflicts.
  • Proficiency with training management software, learning management systems (LMS), and other digital tools is beneficial for streamlining administrative tasks and enhancing the training experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP Success Factors and PowerPoint;
  • Detail Oriented: Accuracy in managing training records, evaluations, and other documentation that is essential for tracking progress and assessing the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Able to analyze training data and feedback to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance the impact of training initiatives.
  • Able to uphold ethical standards in managing training programs, respecting confidentiality, and treating all participants fairly and impartially
  • Possess a valid driver\'s license

  • SafetyCulture, Articulate Storyteller, Easy Generator, and SAP Success Factors administrator experience.
  • B.C. Mine Supervisor certification
  • Red Seal Trade Certification

Salary Range: $81,500 - $101,000The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate\'s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
