About Strategic Investment

The Strategic Investment Team leads the development and management of VCF impact investment and social finance strategies, tools and programs, and the Affordable Housing Accelerator Program and Fund. We work closely with colleagues across VCF and Vancity departments, to raise, manage and deploy capital to that contributes to community impact in the areas of areas of affordable housing, climate justice, economic inclusion, equity and reconciliation. The Affordable Housing Accelerator Program aims to ensure more people have access to affordable rental housing by preserving and growing the supply of, and access to, community-owned permanent, climate-ready affordable homes for diverse groups of low and moderate-income households, including homes developed by and for Indigenous and equity-denied groups. The program works to build capacity, secure and leverage land, and address financial barriers to accelerate non-profit affordable housing development. We do this by providing grant investments, financing and expertise to housing organizations and other community land-owners to support the conception, planning and development of climate-ready affordable housing acquisition, development and re-development projects.

The Role: Coordinator, Strategic Investment

The Coordinator, Strategic Investment is responsible for supporting the management and administration of the processes, systems and documentation related to the Strategic Investment department's programs delivery.

As the Coordinator, Strategic Investment you will work closely with the Strategic Investment/Housing Accelerator Program team to support effective and efficient program delivery, administration, and management. This includes managing grant, loan and investment documentation and agreements, data entry and management, and coordination support for events, meetings, marketing and outreach and other program activities. You will also work closely with the Finance team at VCF to support recording and management, and financial transactions including payment administration.

A typical day would involve any combination of:
  • Prepare accurate and timely documents for new and existing grants, loans and investors including promissory notes, amendments, renewals, payment statements, audit confirmation, etc.
  • Secure signatures on documents and distribute executed agreements to all parties
  • Project and financial data entry for grants, loans, and investment and file management
  • Prepare payment requests for approved grants, loans, program expenses and invoices, and gather necessary information for payment processing
  • Support quarterly and/or annual loan and investor statement preparation and distribution
  • Tracking of grants and loans against budgets and providing management reports as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the team for scheduling meetings, event coordination, communications and report preparation and dissemination
  • Coordinate grant, loan or investment committee meetings, including scheduling and compiling and dissemination of any meeting materials and recording minutes or meeting decisions
  • Respond to and/or triage inquiries and/or requests for information, funding, or loans from community organizations and from existing or potential program funders or investors
  • Liaise with Finance/Accounting on financial transactions related to grant, loans and investment payments or deposit processing
  • Support development and implementation of program policies, procedures and administration systems including file and data management systems
  • Identify and propose solutions to problems, issues and opportunities related to program administration and delivery

You Have:
  • Degree or diploma in administration or business or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience in areas related to grant, loan or investment administration
  • MS Suite hands on experience & ability to navigate spreadsheets
  • Advanced experience with loan / grant administration policies and procedures
  • Experience in general administration and/or as an administrative assistant
  • Data and file management policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Basic accounting /financial administration skills
  • Proficient with Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Familiarity with general databases & query language.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Naturally organized with solid time-management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.
  • Good judgement and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively independently.
  • Comfortable with routine and rote data entry but able to be flexible and take on a wide variety of job duties as needed.

The Team:
In this role, you will report to the Director, Strategic Investment and work closely with Strategic Investment and Affordable Housing team to deliver and manage effective and efficient programs.

Work Location: This competitively rewarded role will enjoy remote working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from your Greater Vancouver based home office and in or with communities that we serve. For this reason, we are looking for someone autonomous, takes initiative, centres relationship building and takes ownership of their role.

Salary: Starting at $49,700 (flexible based on experience)
