Responsibilities and Duties
As the on-site Safety Coordinator, you'll act as an extension of the Project Management and Supervision Group, providing daily safety leadership and coordination to support both client and contractor teams.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Conduct daily toolbox talks with crews.
Assist with new hire orientations for project workers, sub-trades, and visitors.
Perform weekly project safety inspections.
Compile and submit daily and weekly health and safety documentation to the client.
Act as the client's health and safety representative, liaising with workplace parties, constructors, and owners.
Assist with incident investigations as required.
Verify equipment inspections are completed and logged appropriately.
Support the development of on-site plans (e.g., traffic control, delivery, evacuation).
Review and discuss project safety documentation (Safe Work Plans, Emergency Plans, JHAs/JSAs).
Attend client and site meetings as required.
Provide ongoing support and safety guidance to all workplace parties.
Complete hazard reports and participate in project update meetings.
Submit timesheets and reports as per SafetyCo and client requirements.

Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 5 years of health and safety experience in a construction environment, ideally with structural or industrial experience.
Certifications such as NCSO, CRSP, CRST, or CHSC are strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of New Brunswick health and safety legislation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills - a "people-first" safety approach.
Tech-savvy and comfortable using devices and digital tools (cell phone, tablet, laptop).
Familiarity with safety and project software such as SiteDocs, MS Office Suite, and Bluebeam.

Their approach focuses on "stop and educate" conversations, immediate correction with understanding, and escalation to supervisors only when necessary.
You'll also receive support and guidance from the client's H&S Supervisors and Director of Safety, as well as SafetyCo's leadership team.
