Daily Bread Food Bank works towards long-term solutions to end hunger and poverty and runs innovative programs to support individuals living on low incomes and experiencing food insecurity. Daily Bread distributes fresh and shelf-stable food, and fresh-cooked meals to 129 member agencies and 207 food programs across Toronto. Daily Bread also publishes the influential Who's Hungry report - an annual survey measuring trends in food insecurity and poverty in Toronto to educate the public and spark policy change.

Responsibilities



The Coordinator, Prospect Research and Support provides back-office support to the Development team to keep fundraisers and food-raisers donor-facing. Conducting prospect research to identify new donors and reports to research existing donors to support targeting and cultivation. Support also includes grant administration, prospect research, donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and recognition initiatives.



Prospect Research



Organizes and maintains prospect research subscriptions and database. Responsible for the systematic and proactive identification of potential major gift donors and work with fundraisers to identify prospects via RE, social, or referrals. Using subscription-based tools and information available in the public domain gather relevant information about prospects. Information like age, profession, interests, capacity, giving history. Participate in regularly scheduled prospect clearance and strategy discussions. Conduct detailed research on individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities, curating content and identifying affinity, capacity, linkages and connections. Prepare and present comprehensive profiles and reports that inform fundraising strategy and support staff and volunteers. Prepare and circulate summaries and insights on donors, prospect intelligence, donation activity, and donor news.


Grant Administration



Maintain and update administrative and financial data in Raisers Edge (RE) ensuring grants are coded correctly and applied to the correct fund (general, food or restricted). Ensure reporting needs are captured in RE and support grant reporting. Work with Finance to maintain a grant opportunity list to ensure that grants are not overlapping and are being monitored and spent according to grant intentions. Ensure fundraisers complete the necessary donor/gift agreement processes, that agreements are signed and saved in RE.


Other



Ensure Development Team activities are captured in the Marketing Communication shared calendar. Organize and maintain Development Team SharePoint folders. Maintain the Development Team SharePoint site. Coordinates logistics and agendas for meetings of the Development Team, including retreats. Reserves meeting rooms, coordinates technical support. Maintain acknowledgment letter templates. Support customized stewardship needs. Coordinate annual recognition initiatives like the annual report and donor wall(s) and as per the recognition guidelines. Other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience (or equivalent)



3-5 years' experience in donor relations and office administration role. Experience supporting a 10+ Development Team. Post-secondary education; business management, fundraising certificate or equivalent desired. Experience in food security, community development, or related mission area an asset


Key Competencies



Minimum three years of experience in a fundraising organization with exposure to donor relations best practices 2-3 years' experience with donor database(s); Raiser's Edge experience desired. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; working and collaborating with different departments and all levels of staff within the organization. Demonstrated experience handling a wide-ranging set of assignments, managing time and competing priorities. Strong numeric skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Drafting correspondence and providing basic financial reports. Committed to accuracy and achieving measurable outcomes; work independently and collaboratively to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions. Parental leave contract, full-time position. Standard office hours: Monday-Friday. Occasional evening and weekend events for which lieu time can be accrued.
