DUTIES

Working with the Dean of Arts and Faculty Program Lead(s), the Coordinator, MA Graduate Program, will support faculty and student success in the Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice program, of which the practicum is a required component. The Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in cultivating external relations with partners and community organizations, by providing administrative support for Faculty Supervisors, External Partners, and students in the MA Practicum Program.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage administrative infrastructure for the MA Practicum Program, including both program and budget infrastructure.
  • Maintain and monitor capacity and logistical infrastructure within the Faculty of Arts to sustain the MA Graduate Practicum.
  • Liaison with TRU\'s Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to promote the MA in Human Rights and Social Justice and assist with the development of local, national and international partnerships for the MA Practicum Program.
  • Responsible for supporting the logistical and administrative communications between TRU, students and external partners.
  • Review and interpret feedback from all stakeholders regarding the practicum program and generate recommendations to the Dean.
  • Provide support to students, and field supervisors to ensure that necessary practicum forms and documents are completed and submitted by prescribed deadlines.
  • Provide administrative support to Faculty Members by coordinating and attending committee meetings, taking notes and records of meetings and tracking data related to the MA Practicum Program.
  • Oversee travel and incidental budget for Graduate Practicum Program development.
  • Manage educational events for faculty members and graduate students to maintain the graduate program.
  • Provide support to organize and coordinate Graduate Program events for students and faculty members.
  • Work with financial development officer to investigate funding possibilities for student bursaries and scholarships for practicum students.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Master\'s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited University
  • Five years\' experience in a post-secondary environment dealing with a wide variety of practice-based placements
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders including government and not-for-profits at local, national, and international levels
  • Strong skills in project management and strategic planning in higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement and maintain new programs and procedures
  • Proficient in the creation and use of spreadsheets and website related information
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work as a solution-oriented member of the Arts MA coordinating team
  • Ability to travel domestically, nationally, and internationally as required
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with faculty members, administrators, and members of the general public including stakeholder representatives
  • A background in partnership development and/or communications and marketing will be a strong asset
  • Experience with budget development and management
