The Coordinator, International Student Services ensures international students at Canadore College benefit from a suite of services that cater to their unique needs. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating a portfolio of services that include international student engagement programming, ensuring the provision of timely settlement and support services, and serving as the key operational link for Canadore's international student health insurance program.
Qualifications:
Three year Diploma/Degree in Education, Administration or equivalent education and experience combined
Minimum three years' practical experience working with individuals or clients in a multicultural setting; practical experience in a post-secondary education context may be considered an asset
Experience in developing, implementing and coordinating events
Minimum two years' recent related experience developing, implementing and facilitating student-centered programs designed to support student engagement, student leadership and student success in higher education preferably within an international student context
Experience gained abroad, including teaching abroad, exchanges or development work internationally considered an asset
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a customer focused environment
Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; experience providing professional support to diverse client groups.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be fluent in oral and written English. Oral and written capability in a second language is considered an asset
In-person, on-campus position. Must be able to reliably commute and/or relocate to North Bay, ON
Responsibilities:
Develop a suite of international student engagement programming, in coordination with internal and external stakeholders
Incumbent ensures that workshops, seminars, and programming, as well as student social events, are held regularly throughout the calendar year; incumbent also assures celebration of the wide diversity of Canadore international students by marking key events each year
Coordinate the delivery of Canadore's international student health insurance plan. Includes liaising regularly with Canadore's health insurance provider, managing student registration lists, and advising international students on health insurance plan inclusion and exclusion of services.
Serve as the key liaison for Canadore for both international student arrival orientation and pre-departure orientation programming This includes coordination with internal college stakeholders as well as with community partners, and the development of the international student orientation program, three times a year.
Act as project officer for several key initiatives, projects and services offered to enhance international student engagement
Coordinate and lead the recruitment of international student work placement positions in the international office
