Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Edmonton Zone and working closely with the Zone Hand Hygiene Project Manager, Zone IPC and Hand Hygiene Committee, and the IPC Provincial Hand Hygiene team, the position is responsible for conducting quality reviews and providing standardized reviewer training within Alberta Health Services. The successful candidate will travel to multiple hospital sites and programs within their assigned zone and review health care workers practices as per standardized tools, such as hand hygiene. Occasional travel outside of their zone may be required.

Description:

Performance of quality reviews using standardized tools and methods across the continuum of care to meet all review targets. Multiple walk throughs at various hospitals and healthcare sites which will require extended periods of standing/walking while conducting reviews. This work requires directly observing care delivery on hospital units and in clinics. Provide education and support to front line staff related to hand hygiene. Provide feedback to frontline managers and staff and create reports as required. Provide training to site/program-based reviewers. All Management and Out of Scope positions are being reviewed for inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma plus applicable post-secondary education, preferably in a health-related field. Incumbent will be required to train on AHS hand hygiene review programs, AHS hand hygiene policy and procedure and other review programs as required. Ability to work independently and to collaborate with stakeholders is essential. Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required. Proficiency and experience with the following programs and technology: Microsoft Office, notebooks, iPad, workstations, and laptops. Experience in healthcare, preferably working with front line staff. Knowledge of the chain of infection and IPC Risk Assessment tools. Knowledge of standards applicable to the project. Experience in conducting reviews or inspections and preparing entry level reports an asset. Position requires travel to sites and facilities across the zone. Mileage paid per NUEE guidelines. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:

A valid Alberta Driver\'s license and a vehicle for business use is required. Home site is Seventh Street Plaza, however, frequent travel within the zone to hospitals and programs is required.
