About the CCA: The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is the national voice for Canada\xe2\x80\x99s construction industry, which employs close to 1.6 million Canadians and accounts for 7.4% of our GDP. About the role: This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to public policy development and advocacy efforts for one of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest industries. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Public Affairs and Industry Practices, you will be a core member of the Public Affairs team and will engage in the development and execution of CCA\xe2\x80\x99s government relations and public policy strategic objectives. Key responsibilities:
Monitor and analyse political and public policy events and trends impacting the industry, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
In collaboration with the communications team, create and contribute to publications, reports, presentations, and briefing documents, related to CCA\xe2\x80\x99s public affairs.
In collaboration with the Events team, organize and manage opportunities for CCA to engage with the federal government and government officials.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the government relations strategy and annual plan, in accordance with the Strategic Plan.
Comply with policies, legislation, regulations, and other legal requirements, and manage CCA\xe2\x80\x99s lobbying registration.
Support the Public Affairs team in the successful achievement of their goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in political science, public administration or other relevant areas of study.
1 to 3 years of work or volunteer experience in politics, public policy or government relations.
Graduate degree in political management or public policy is considered a strong asset.
Experience in government relations, political offices or political campaigns an asset.
Bilingualism an asset (French/English)
Skills and knowledge:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superior legislative, regulatory and policy analysis skills.
Advanced knowledge of the federal government and the legislative Process.
Knowledge of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s advocacy and lobbying rules and best practices.
