The Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC) helps students to thrive at Memorial University by providing a range of resources to meet the health and well-being needs of currently registered students. A full-service health clinic, counselling services, and wellness program are the primary focus.Gender Journeys is an all-inclusive community-based support group for individuals who identify at various points along the gender spectrum (example: transgender, gender-queer, gender nonconforming). We offer a safe and therapeutic space where members can process their feelings and thoughts about relevant issues associated with gender. The group also aims to facilitate physical, social, and emotional impacts of gender transition and to create a space to foster community support and connection. It is a safe meeting place for all Trans and gender diverse people.Reporting into the Medical Lead of the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre, the successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and facilitating sessions according to the Gender Journeys curriculum. Duties include recruiting and advertising the Gender Journeys support group for students of Memorial University; screening for potential group members; arranging guest speakers and consultants within the group; preparing budgets for sessions in collaboration with the Administrative Staff Specialist III; completing an evaluation of the Gender Journeys program; and performing other related duties and interventions as required.QUALIFICATIONSExperience (1-2 years) in support group coordination; completion of an Undergraduate degree in a related field of study; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, and queer populations; demonstrated understanding of heterosexism, cissexism, and other oppressions and how they impact individuals, families, institutions, and communities; demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; experience developing workshops, presentations, and engagement sessions both in person and on virtual platforms; strong work ethic and standard of service; effective analytical skills; effective communication skills; and strong research/program evaluation skills.There is a requirement to provide a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local Police and a Vulnerable Sector Check, educational documents, and registration/licensure as applicable.SALARY $54,770 - $82,150 per annum (Management and Professional)CLOSING DATE July 25, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. NSTAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants who are legally entitled to work in Canada.
