Job Description

Dalhousie Medical School attracts some of Canada's top students, physicians, and health researchers. With campuses in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, and over 100 teaching sites across the Maritimes, we provide aspiring doctors and health researchers with the highest caliber of education. Reporting to the Director, Medical Research Development Office (MRDO), the Coordinator, Faculty Research Programs will coordinate and oversee all faculty research programs, including ongoing process improvement identification of all programs in alignment with Office of Advancement agreements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the coordination of the application, review, and awards processes. Ensure strong internal controls, efficient and effective processes, and consistent implementation of research programs. Uphold and ensure program adherence to institutional and research policies.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to identify areas for investment, cultivating an environment of continuous improvement, innovation, and growth for research programs. Deliver effective strategic communication regarding program guidelines and processes.
  • Work closely with Office of Advancement staff to determine readiness of financial commitments related to research programs. Ensure adherence to allocation and financial approval processes for programs. Complete financial reporting and recovery of unspent funds.
  • Ensure confidentiality of application information. Manage conflicts of interest to maintain robust and transparent processes.
  • Provide advice to MRDO leadership on content to ensure strategic priorities are addressed on the MRDO website. Identify target audiences, oversee and prepare web content and revisions, and recommend how to use the website best to advance strategic priorities.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in related field plus approximately three to five years' relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience with guideline/program development and administration, financial administration, and detailed record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work with and advise diverse teams.
  • Strong initiative and organizational skills with the proven ability to work independently on multiple projects in a deadline-driven, fast-paced, confidential environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Assets
  • Experience in a post-secondary academic, research, and/or research funding environment.
  • Experience with project management.
