The opportunity

(Please note this is a 12-month contract, remote working role and the individual must reside in one of these Western provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.)

The Coordinator, Development is responsible for supporting the continued growth of raising funds across individual, corporate and foundation donors, and supporting broader administrative needs across the Western Canada region.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Partnerships and working closely with the Vice President, Philanthropy, the successful candidate will be involved in a diverse range of activities including donor relations and stewardship, data management, event logistics and execution, preparation of materials and briefing documents, while providing support with a variety of administrative functions.

Given the wide range of responsibilities, the successful candidate will be an organized and process-oriented self-starter with the flexibility and judgment to prioritize time effectively. This is a position with significant opportunity for learning and long-term growth in a dynamic work environment.

How you will make an impact every day

Fundraising and Revenue Generation support

Assist the Development team in drafting and editing correspondence and communications such as briefing notes, debriefing note, invitations, letters of inquiry, proposals, gift agreements, and reports.

Collaborate with Communications and Development Services teams to create stewardship reports and any corresponding forms to be updated annually and assist in the delivery to donors.

Coordinate a process for obtaining signatures for donor gift agreements.

Develop, monitor, and maintain major gifts personalized information packages containing mission-related material (eg. pertinent research materials, health and advocacy information, video and web information specific to individual and corporate prospects and donors.

Together with the Director, Corporate Partnerships, develop tactics to bridge stewardship of corporate third-party events and fundraising

Event Coordination and Logistics

Event management including coordinating with internal teams to negotiate required services pre-event, during event, and post event, such as donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship events; and corporate-related events.

Create excellent experiences and positive interactions through small-scale events involving key stakeholders.

Assist in development and implementation of HSF\xe2\x80\x99s Recognition and Stewardship Policies and Procedures.

Liaise with external suppliers to coordinate services for Development programs and cultivation/ stewardship events.

Oversee execution of sponsorship at events such as the Gala.

Database Entry and Management

Work in collaboration with the Philanthropy Operations Specialist to assist in implementation, management, and tracking information related to major gifts including gift coding, prospective donor/donor information, and moves management.

Create and co-create attendance lists and file management.

Administration

Proactive administrative support to the development team.

Prepare special reports as requested.

Support in annual budget planning

Who we need

Experience

A minimum of three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in not-for-profit and previous philanthropy and/or corporate social responsibility background is an asset.

Demonstrated professionalism in written and verbal communications

Proven ability to relate to and engage diverse groups of people

Experience with a multi-faceted organization requiring the ability to prioritize, work independently, meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision

Education

Post-secondary degree in a related field and/or combination of education and experience.

Skills

Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills to a high degree of quality

Strong technical abilities, computer skills and experience understanding and working with a CRM database would be an asset

High degree of discretion and discipline required with confidential financial and personal information

Proactive, self-motivated and resourceful

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Ability to anticipate and plan, problem solve and exercise sound judgment
