Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, covering a maternity leave, the Coordinator will be responsible for supporting our Cryogenics operation, providing excellent customer service and administration to customer, drivers and Operations team.

Location: On-site at 17508 116 Avenue NW, Edmonton

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm, 40 hours per week

What you will do

  • Ensuring that all work is accurately entered and managed in the system in a timely manner, from; order entry, to planning, to activating
  • Dispatch drivers efficiently, resulting in the reduction/elimination of non-revenue hours, empty miles and to ensure driver productivity
  • Assess and support all driver inquiries
  • Manage and direct all incoming inquiries through the dispatch telephone lines to ensure a clear, efficient flow of information to the appropriate people
  • Be the front line contact for drivers regarding scheduling and work availability
  • Coordinate with maintenance and Operations to ensure that the required equipment is available
  • Ensure proper placement of trailer pool to support customer requirements while maintaining costs
  • Coordinating shunt and shuttle moves between multiple locations, pre-planned and priority loads
  • Maintain, alter and correct drivers trips in the system
  • Report all driver absences and tardiness to the Manager
  • Escalate issues to Management when unable to resolve
  • Provide drivers with all relevant information and / or tools for their trip; maps; schedules; trip sheets; access codes; trip numbers; tractor keys etc.
  • Equipment repair requests audit driver DVIR\'s (driver vehicle inspection reports)
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is accurately entered into the A1 system in timely manner; live updating, order entry, planning, activating, progressing and closing trips
  • Provide Dispatchers and Planners with information needed for shift change reports
  • Support Dispatchers and Planners in recovery planning for drivers, tractors and / or trailers
  • Supply CSR\'s with information needed for customer reports
  • Ensure driver trip sheets are complete
  • Answering phone calls and transferring to the proper department
  • Other duties as required

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience as a dispatcher in the trucking industry required
  • Understanding of transportation and Hours of Service required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Leadership skills and proven experience in handling multiple priorities
  • Must be able to work independently and in high stress environments
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and critical decision-making capabilities
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be able to work overtime if the demand arises
  • Proficient with Microsoft Programs; Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experience with a computerized dispatch system is an asset
  • Experience with US and Canada Customs and Cross Border Operation
  • Knowledge of cross border dispatching regulations and practices
  • Must pass a criminal record check; must be bondable
