Role Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Program and Fund Development the Coordinator, Community Fundraising and Events will be responsible for logistics coordination, event platform management, and acting as a frontline contact for supporting stewardship and donor relations. This role supports the Community Fundraising and Events team in achieving fundraising and participation goals by managing logistics, ticket sales, silent auctions and other fundraising-focused activities.
Contract Duration: This job posting is for a 6-month contract role.
Hourly Rate: $34.34/hour
Location: Diabetes Canada's national office is at 1000-170 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. We offer a flexible work arrangement, allowing employees to work remotely while occasionally coming into the office as required by their manager or the organization. This role is required to attend events across Canada throughout the year.
This role includes, but not limited to:
Fundraising Support

  • Assist the team in meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals through the execution of events and programs aligned with regional and national plans.
  • Identify and maximize fundraising-focused opportunities (e.g., ticket sales, silent auctions, raffles, table sales, teams, golf foursomes, peer-to-peer fundraising and team goals)
  • Support solicitation and follow-up with sponsors and event participants.
  • Contribute to portfolio growth by exploring creative fundraising initiatives.
Event Support
  • Lead the day-of-event operations, including managing volunteers and vendors to ensure a positive experience.
  • Maintain and update event platforms, troubleshoot issues and manage data.
  • Execute marketing plans in collaboration with the marketing team, including social media, event programs, signage, and presentations.
  • Assist with sponsor identification and stewardship.
  • Complete post-event impact reports and summaries.
  • Manage and track inventory of event supplies at our storage unit.
Administrative Support
  • Provide administrative assistance to the portfolio, including contracts, letters of agreement, and financial reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with other coordinators to ensure consistent business practices.
The ideal candidate possesses:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in fundraising, sales, event coordination, marketing and/or not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience with special events and volunteer management. Familiarity with email marketing, social media and tools such as Canva.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with digital tools and social media platforms.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and responsive
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Computer proficiency including experience with social media

Working Conditions:
  • Occasional evening and weekend work
  • The role is expected to travel to attend events
  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license and vehicle
