Who We Are

The Political Science (POL) administrative team ensures smooth operation of the department, supporting faculty and students alike. This team provides crucial services, including but not limited to course planning and scheduling, assisting with academic inquiries, organizing events and seminars, and aiding in administrative tasks for the benefit of students and faculty members. The POL admin team embodies professionalism, collaboration, and a strong dedication to facilitating the academic journey of all involved.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Communications and Events develops, implements, and maintains the communications profile of the Political Science Department through print, web, electronic, and other media. The incumbent works collaboratively with faculty, staff, programs, research centers, and institutes to conceive, develop, and distribute communications highlighting the achievements of faculty, students, alumni, and staff. The incumbent conceptualizes and organizes events and conferences that help with recruiting new students, to raise the public profile and support the objectives of the Political Science Department. The incumbent works in cooperation with University Communications and FASS to ensure consistency in identifying and communicating key messages and engaging relevant audiences with regular communication updates. The incumbent initiates contact and builds relationships with the Political Science Department\'s alumni.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree with four years of related experience, including experience in writing, communications, event planning, and website design, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent event management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to use specialized design software applications, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing, copy editing, and layout skills.
  • Excellent interviewing skills.
