Job Description

Summary of the Role:



The Communications Coordinator, guided by the Fund Development Manager, will elevate BGCTK's public presence and support the effective flow of information to community members, families, staff, volunteers, donors and funders. This role will lead the content development and strategy for our website, social media, and printed materials. They will also play an important role in donor stewardship, event coordination, and reporting.

Terms of Employment:



Salaried: $45,000 to $52,000 based on skills & experience. Health & Dental benefits, plus 10 days of paid vacation, and 10 sick/personal days. Contract for 2 years, with possible renewal. 3-month probationary period. As a front-line service organization, staff are expected to work in person. Limited remote/hybrid flexibility. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required to support special events and programs.

Tasks & Responsibilities:



Build on BGC Canada's brand/design resources & adapt templates for our Club. Craft thoughtful and compelling copy that attracts participants, updates supporters, celebrates our impact, and represents our organization to the community. Coordinate messaging so that it is accurate, easy to understand, and consistent. Work alongside team/colleagues to gather program information, photos, etc. Lead our

website

revamp, with ongoing updates to webpage content. Technical web expertise is not required for this role, but strong writing skills and a keen sense of visual design are essential. Manage our organization's

social media

accounts (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Develop and publish content across all platforms (including posts, reels, and videos) showcasing our programs, events, and supporters. Createbrochures

Cases for Support, and other print materialsto distribute at community events, school fairs, and meetings. Help to assemble Annual Reports, and issue Press Releases on behalf of our Executive Director. Publish

Impact Reports

to communicate about BGCTK and the findings from collected data. Lend a hand in presenting information in funding reports and applications. Assist in organizing

fundraising efforts & community events

, including Annual General Meetings, raffles, holiday campaigns, etc. Oversee volunteers & staff who are specifically interested in photography, web development, and digital content creation.

Review and edit content

to ensure it reflects our brand and values. Support the distribution of newsletters and program calendars for all BGCTK service locations; update community contacts on program plans and highlights. Support the organization's

volunteer program

, particularly for corporate engagement and special events. Maintain strong processes for onboarding, scheduling, and recognition. Develop and maintain positive

relationships

with donors, volunteers, local businesses, and other stakeholders; attend community meetings. Support the coordination of

in-kind donations

. Champion the delivery of

thank you

messages & gifts to recognize supporters. Track donations, pledges and donor engagement; use software to issue receipts. Follow, update and implement BGCTK's Crisis Communications procedures, as necessary. Monitor media coverage, analyze engagement metrics, and optimize content for improved performance.

Our Ideal Candidate has the following skills/qualifications:



Excellent writing, editing, research and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Strong ethics, and a passion for our community and mission. Creative thinker with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in social media tools, Canva, and other online communications and design platforms. Adept in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Forms, Excel, Word). Competence using WordPress, Salesforce, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud would be a bonus. Photography skills an asset. A diploma or certificate in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism is wonderful, but not required. We welcome candidates with a combination of demonstrable skills and relevant experience. A valid Driver's License is an advantage. Must be able to obtain clearance in a police information check (Vulnerable Sector Screen)
