About the Role:





The Northern Alberta YMCA is looking for a Child & Youth Coordinator with proven time-management and leadership experience to support the department Supervisor in providing high quality child and youth programs to members.

Responsibilities:




Support the Supervisor with coaching, supervising and managing all part-time staff and volunteers within the program areas. Ensure staff's reoccurring training requirements (e.g. Child Protection Policy) are completed. Provide feedback/recognition and on the spot coaching to staff members regularly, including evaluations and working with the Supervisor for any disciplinary actions when necessary. Maintain up to date tracking of certificates and awards of staff and volunteers in the program area. Support staff on shift in program delivery - ensure instructors have updated class lists and needed supplies and that staff and volunteers are role modeling YMCA service standards and following program curriculum and directives at all times. Ensure all safety documents within programs are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios. Develop and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers and members, act as a role model in how you interact and communicate with the team and colleagues of all levels with the YMCA. Support with equipment maintenance, inventory and regular ordering for all Childminding supplies, recreational sports and arts & craft supplies. Act as area Health and Safety representative; complete monthly inspection for Child & Youth program spaces, comply with the Centre's emergency response and procedures, participate in an annual review of emergency procedures, and take action as needed to ensure a safe work environment for all staff and volunteers. Consistently represent YMCA's values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, participation of others by helping out by their respective means, enrich the quality of programs and services and promote YMCA as a charity.

Qualifications:




High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous leadership experience considered an asset. Early childhood development or related experience is an asset. NCCP, Fundamental Movement Skills and/or Healthy Child Development certifications considered an asset. Intermediate First Aid and CPR-C. Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
