In this role, you will:



Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada. Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. Teaching and coaching a variety of YMCA child, youth and family programs, including advanced leadership courses. Monitor programs for quality, consistency, retention and overall effectiveness. Ensure all safety, program instruction best practices and procedures are adhered to. Organize and implement lesson plans, progress reports and evaluations. Flexible work week including days, evenings, weekends and occasional holiday hours. Maintain records as needed, including audits, behaviour grids, sign in sheets, program area maintenance items and daily checklists. Work alongside Program Manager and Centre Manager to communicate needs of aquatics department to ensure high quality programming. Provide administrative support for staff scheduling, training and supervision. Maintain current qualifications as required by this position. Adhere to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description. Follow all YMCA standards and best practices, protocols and regulations as defined by the association, the Health Department, and other governing bodies. Maintain a high level of retention among qualified, high performing aquatics staff and volunteers through ongoing role modeling, coaching and mentoring Ensure a front line presence during day, evening and weekend hours as required by YMCA programs and services. Interact with members and participants on a regular basis in order to maintain accessibility and foster relationships. Perform other duties as assigned.

You bring:



Current Standard First Aid/CPR Certification 'C' Current National Lifeguard - Pool Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent knowledge of Ontario Public Pool Regulations YMCA aquatic instructor certification preferred Lifesaving instructor certification preferred Advanced lifesaving instructor/examiner certifications preferred Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including: AODA Training Health & Safety Awareness Training Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training PCI Compliance WHMIS Child Protection Training
