Job Summary

The Coordination Advisor, Primary Care and Diversity, works in cooperation with the Regional Prevention and Screening Team, Manager, the Regional Primary Care Lead, and other Clinical Leads to coordinate regional cancer screening activities for Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP), Ontario Cervical Screening Program (OCSP), and ColonCancerCheck (CCC).

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Advisor will engage and collaborate with key stakeholders (eg. primary care, community partners, etc.) within the region to promote cancer screening, solicit feedback on barriers and opportunities, and achieve the strategic screening goals and priorities of Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) and the Regional Cancer Program (RCP).
  • The Advisor is responsible for coordinating primary care provider education and awareness activities and supporting sites and providers in improving performance and quality to enhance cancer screening participation, appropriateness, and coordination and timely follow up of abnormal results (for e.g. supporting the adoption of primary care provider tools)
  • The Advisor will use and monitor appropriate social media channels to increase the program\'s reach across the Central Region
  • The Advisor will work with the Coordination Advisor, Health Promotion and community partners to engage with under/never screened (e,g, newcomers/immigrants) and diverse populations to create accessible and culturally appropriate cancer prevention and screening initiatives.
  • The advisor will work with the Physician Leads and Screening and Prevention team to implement, and evaluate initiatives

Qualifications
  • Degree in a Health-Related Science, Public Health, Health Communication or Regulated Health Profession required. Master degree in a relevant focus of study is preferred.
  • Certification in Project Management and Quality Improvement preferred.
  • Professional affiliations as appropriate.
  • Three years of experience in a health-related field required.
  • One or more years of experience in project management including evidenced based research or evaluation required.
  • Experience in health information data analysis required.
  • Experience using data/metrics to drive Quality Improvement required.
  • Experience in delivery of patient and staff education required.
  • Experience in creating public education resources using health literacy principles required.
  • Experience with public presentations, knowledge translation, and/or community engagement required.
  • Two years of experience in health promotion and community engagement preferred.
  • Knowledge of diversity, inclusion and/or cultural competencies required; related certification(s) considered an asset.
  • Experience in creating and executing diversity and inclusion projects/programming considered an asset.
  • Experience in applying and evaluating social marketing campaigns to wide audiences preferred.
  • Two years of experience in health promotion and community engagement preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, cancer screening programs; experience in a Regional Cancer Centre or within a Regional Cancer Program is an asset.
  • Expertise of software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, including Publisher and the ability to use the internet as a resource required. Knowledge of other graphic design software and e-technologies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cancer Prevention and Screening Programs is preferred.
