Job Description

General Liquids Canada, part of the Municipal Group of Companies, operates a state of art Liquid Asphalt Emulsion Plant, Liquid Asphalt Terminal and Performance Laboratory. General Liquids Canada is looking for dedicated individuals for either a 4-month or 8-month co-op term beginning in May 2026. The student will work with the quality control team and management at its materials laboratory located in Waverly, NS.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform Laboratory testing of Aggregates, Hot Mix Asphalt, Liquid Asphalt or Emulsions as required

Maintain logs, records and perform calculations in a neat and accurate manner

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance for the upkeep of lab equipment

Participate in the Integrated Management System that meets our AMRL, CCIL and ISO requirements

Maintain a clean, nice and safe work environment.

Demonstrated ability to perform work in a timely and efficient manner

Be able to handle hazardous material in a safe manner according to company policies

Other duties as required



Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:



Working towards a Degree or Diploma in Engineering

Materials testing experience is not required but an asset

The successful candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment

Good communication and detailed reporting skills are required

Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001 or similar accreditation program

Proficient with Excel and MS Word

Climb ladders and stairs up the side of tanks

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

NOTE:

Reliable transportation is required for this position as the office is not located on a bus route.
