Role Description:

Title: Co-op Work term Placement (Intern)
Location: Collingwood, Ontario
Reports to: Plant Manager
Status: Full Time / Hourly
Term: 16 weeks

Responsibilities:

• Conduct time studies and downtown analyses on equipment and processes to identify candidates for lean manufacturing initiatives
• Participate in continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction improvements
• Develop and deliver standardized work documents to shop floor based on output of continuous improvement initiatives
• Analyze bill of material and cost data to recommend continuous improvement initiatives in focused areas
• Assist maintenance department with collecting and analyzing downtime data to improve the predictive and preventive maintenance strategy
• Offer technical assistance to maintenance and shop personnel where analytical and methodical problem solving may be required.
• Assist Plant Manager and supervisory team with the collection and dissemination of performance data

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an engineering technician or technologist diploma program, preferably industrial or mechanical discipline.

Skills / Highlights:

• strong analytical capabilities, able to focus on a problem and its potential solutions
• ability to apply methodical problem solving tools under guidance
• ability to apply lean manufacturing methodologies (eg. time studies, value-add/non value-add assessments, quick changeover analysis, etc.) under guidance
• strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
• previous experience in ERP/MRP systems advantageous but not required
