Job Purpose

The Technical Specialist Server is responsible for performing technical and non-technical duties for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries' (MBLL) projects, including technical research & planning, technical design & documentation, installation & configuration, and training & transitioning technology fully to operations for MBLL business systems.




Job Responsibilities


------------------------


Design, implement, integrate, and configure commercial off the shelf (COTS) application software and hardware/peripherals for business projects. Apply Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and methodology to ensure effective solution design. Conduct technical testing and validation of business solutions. Provide technical support for testing activities through the project test phases. Create system documentation, including design, build, configuration, recovery, and operational procedures. Provide knowledge transfer and technical training to ITS resources as part of transition to operations activities. Provide estimated work efforts and costs related to project activities. Provide project coordination services for small to medium projects with low to medium complexity. Complete project activities on time and in scope, while adhering to project methodologies. Create and modify procedures, blueprints, roadmaps, and standards as required.


Primary Qualifications

Completion of a recognized diploma or degree program in a related IT discipline. A minimum of five years' experience in an Information Technology support and service delivery role supporting Enterprise Class systems and applications. Experience in superior customer service delivery and support. Project coordination experience. Requires knowledge of Windows Server and experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining current Microsoft server products including Microsoft SQL and IIS. Intermediate experience on failover, high availability, and disaster recovery. Intermediate knowledge and demonstrated troubleshooting skills for diagnosing connectivity issues due to network routing, firewall, application delivery controller, and other physical layer components. Basic knowledge of server virtualization. Linux experience is an asset. Certifications such as A+, Network+, Linux+, RHCE, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), and CCNA would be an asset. DHCP and DNS experience is an asset. Powershell/batch scripting experience is an asset. Having and maintaining a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, including access to transportation. Accreditation as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional certification (ABCP) or equivalent experience is an asset. Continuous upgrading/learning is required to remain current in information technology.

Vacation



Accrue up to 10 paid vacation days per year during the first 2 years of employment. Accrue 15 paid vacation days per year after 3 years of employment.
