What You'll Be Doing



As a Co-op Student with EPCOR's Water Linear Projects team, you'll be part of the action -- helping shape the infrastructure that keeps our communities running. Your role will give you hands-on experience in municipal water and sewer servicing, and expose you to real-world engineering and project management practices.

Here's what you might get involved in:Reviewing engineering plans for water, sewer, and stormwater systems -- making sure they meet regulations, standards, and bylaws before they're approved Supporting developers and builders by advising on service applications for everything from single-family homes to large commercial projects Processing servicing payments and preparing work orders for construction -- helping ensure projects stay on track and meet performance targets Responding to inquiries from applicants and internal teams -- providing clear, timely information about servicing and drainage Contributing to policy and process improvements -- offering input on guidelines, bylaws, and procedures Updating technical records -- reviewing and maintaining accurate as-built information for water and sewer systems Approving development plans once properties are legally registered Tracking and reporting monthly servicing statistics to support team planning and performance

What You'll Learn



This role offers exposure to key areas of municipal infrastructure, including:Water and sewer servicing construction GIS software used in public utilities Municipal planning and engineering standards Cross-functional collaboration with engineers, architects, and city departments

What You'll Need to Succeed



To thrive in this Co-op role, you should bring a mix of technical knowledge, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Here's what we're looking for:

You're currently enrolled in a full-time Civil Engineering Technology Co-op program You communicate clearly and work well both independently and as part of a team You've had experience preparing construction drawings with installation instructions You're comfortable using tools like Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint, Adobe Pro, Google Apps, Oracle, and MicroStation You have a general understanding of: + Field construction and underground utility work
+ Construction standards and field methods
+ Internal plumbing and building systems
+ Municipal and civil design and drafting
You understand engineering plans and can interpret surface contours and elevations You're familiar with fluid mechanics and hydrology You can take direction and provide technical support to different EPCOR teams You're able to calculate inverts, obverts, and crossing elevations for sanitary and storm services You can interpret historical servicing documents and legal plans to track property changes

License Requirements:

Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License and access to a reliable vehicle. Driving record must have no more than 6 demerits at the time of hire. Please note: prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours may result in non-selection, regardless of current demerits. A current 5 year commercial driver's abstract will be required.

Bonus Skills That Make You Stand Out

Experience with computer programming or coding Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI Previous work experience in municipal or construction environments
