Overview

The Collections department of WorkSafeBC is looking for one Collections Assistant Co-op student to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.

The co-op students will assist the Collections department within Assessments in a variety of functions including reconciling prevention penalties and relevant accounts. This is a four-month temporary opportunity starting in May 2023.

Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site at a minimum of once per quarter in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

  • Analyze individual delinquent employer accounts, in a customized PeopleSoft Accounts Receivable system.
  • Determine which portion of employer\xe2\x80\x99s outstanding debt is statute-barred from collection to ensure compliance with the B.C. Limitation Act.
  • Document individual statute-barred items from the A/R system.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to compile, analyze and tabulate data.

  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Your background and experience
  • Enrolled in a Business Administration, Finance, or Computer Science related program
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel and Word
  • Previous co-op or relevant work experience in an office environment is preferred
