About the Role
The Co-op Program Assistant is a critical member of the Co-op Education team, providing administrative support and customer service to students and employers. Co-op Program Assistants work collaboratively to deliver shared program functions, including job postings, interview coordination, placement activities, database and website maintenance, and responding to general inquiries.
In addition to these collective responsibilities, each Co-op Program Assistant provides dedicated support to a specific faculty co-op program. This position supports the Science, Environment & Health Sciences Co-op programs, serving as a primary point of contact for students and faculty within that area. Duties include recording work terms, registering students in practicum courses, and supporting the overall co-op experience.
The role requires the ability to work independently, prioritize work, and handle confidential material with discretion, along with excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. The successful candidate is detail-oriented and has a strong knowledge of standard office practices, methods, and equipment.
The ideal candidate for the Co-op Program Assistant role would have exceptional communication skills, be highly organized, self-motivated, confident and logical with an ability to prioritize tasks. The candidate should possess natural leadership skills, high self-awareness, and the ability to work effectively within a team. It is crucial for the candidate to have a high level of proficiency in using various office technologies.
Qualifications
High school graduation and two years post-secondary education or formal certificate/diploma program equivalent, with courses in office procedures, and word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing applications. 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
