Position Title: Co-op - Individual Insurance Inforce Risk Analysis
Reports To: Director, Individual Insurance Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax
Department: Individual Insurance Operations
Term: Temporary Full-Time, Four (4) Months
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity: We are searching for a Co-op - Individual Insurance Inforce Risk Analysis to join our dynamic Individual Insurance Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax team. We are seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent critical thinking skills who is thorough and curious.
In this role, you will join a team that handles complex policyholder queries, oversees Individual Insurance policyholder taxation and maintains the integrity of policyholder tax administration systems.
What you will be doing:

• Answer queries on policyholder taxation and actuarial inforce policy issues
• Perform analysis to ensure that inforce individual life insurance policies retain their status as insurance policies
• Support the annual year end tax slip verification exercise
• Perform Adjusted Cost Basis and Taxable Gain calculations using policy transactions
• Review processes and procedures followed by the Individual Insurance Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax team
• Recommend changes to processes and procedures as appropriate

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that includes a Co-operative (Co-op) work component

Preferred post-secondary programs are Physics and Mathematics

• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail and curiosity about what you do
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Focus on providing excellent service to clients
• Knowledge of individual life and health products is an asset
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel including VBA is an asset
• Knowledge of Automation Suite Tools (e.g. Pyautogui, Selenium) is an asset
