Applications are invited for the position of Co-op Consultant in the Academic Advising and Career Services Division. Campus location may vary between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland but will be based at the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $43.61/hr (Pay Band J - $43.61/hr to $50.39/hr) for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This is an Appendix D, temporary position as per Article 17.3.1 of the Support Staff Collective Agreement and is set to commence in January 2026 and will conclude in January 2027. It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties.


Reporting to the Director, Academic Advising and Career Services, the successful candidate is responsible for the facilitation and coordination of the co-operative education experience of both co-op students and employers within the career services division. Working closely with academic departments across NC, the position aligns the co-op work term experience(s) to the students' academic program to ensure the applied learning opportunity enhances and is directly relevant to the students' core academic programming and interests.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Provides direct knowledge and program/industry expertise, direction and support to co-op students to ensure that established work integrated learning standards and Ministry regulated standards are achieved, for students to be awarded a co-op designation upon graduation Supports students by providing expertise and insight regarding meaningful employment opportunities, job search techniques and resources grounded in career development theory Tracks student activity, engagement and academic eligibility and ensures all case notes are up to date and accurate Monitors and follows up with students on work terms; investigates, identifies and effectively resolves any current or potential issues or concerns, and consults Director when required Initiates, organizes, markets and coordinates on and off campus recruitment and career exploration activities via proactive and strategically planned outreach, labour market investigation and review Promotes and strategically leverages the college's co-operative education services and supports using tailored marketing approaches, strategic networking initiatives and ongoing relationship maintenance to secure ongoing opportunities for students Evaluates work term opportunities by attending workplace visits, as well as in person, virtual and/or phone consultations with employer and student Facilitates and maintains effective relationship between career services, internal Niagara College colleagues, as well as external community groups and industry affiliations

Qualifications:



Minimum three (3) year diploma and/or three-year undergraduate University degree in the field of Social Sciences, Sciences, Math, Humanities or Business similar field of study Minimum five (5) years related experience in employment advising and/or job development Experience marketing for diverse groups including employer outreach and 1:1 support or career advisement Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building Demonstrated problem solving skills with a focus on delivering practical and timely solutions Must have a valid G driver's license and access to reliable transportation
