Specific Accountabilities:
Creates and delivers an extensive communication strategy utilizing multiple methods of communication and several touch points to ensure students are aware of expectations and deadlines to successfully complete requirements for Co-op eligibility
Provides knowledge and expertise, direction, and support to students in Co-operative Education programs to ensure student success and co-operative education standards are achieved
Instructs, directs, coaches, and provides guidance to individual or groups of students
Coordinates and delivers all activities through the Part-Time Job Hub, in groups or individually, in-person or through technology, informs and assists students to prepare to search for and secure part-time employment
Completes administrative processes, document trails, other metric systems for purpose of capturing performance data, including employer and student satisfaction results, participation levels, and other co-op employment success measures
Develops statistical reports and presents findings as required. Contributes to the ongoing review and adjustment of quality standards established within the Co-operative Education department to ensure a positive student/employer experience and safe and meaningful work term experiences
Prepares and presents formal presentations to co-op students in relation to information on the College's Co-op resources, and specifically on co-operative education policies and procedures, the utility of the College Career Portal on-line system, job search techniques (including resume writing, value clarification, professional correspondence, employability skills, co-op work term recruitment resources, and employment standards (including Human Rights Code and privacy legislation), using a combination of MS PPT, Teams and D2L systems.
Determines employer and student work suitability based on program competencies, value of experience or student and co-op department principles, applying sound investigational techniques to assess viability of self developed opportunities to assess employers for fit and position for program fit
About the Position:
This position is located at our Ottawa Campus and requires in person on location for all hours worked.
This is a temporary, full time support staff position replacing a bargaining unit employee. This position will start as soon as possible and end in December 2026. Working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $39.34, reporting to the Associate Director, Co-Operative Education & Experience Learning.
The Incumbent is responsible for being the first point of contact for all students seeking part-time and co-op employment. Provides services representing the Part-Time Job Hub supporting Lambton College students seeking part time employment and for employers recruiting students. Develops and delivers a variety of presentations to support Part-time Job Hub services, resources and tools. The incumbent will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating training materials for students as it pertains to meeting requirements to obtain co-op eligibility. The incumbent co-ordinates, tracks and updates completion of co-op eligibility requirements for co-op work terms.
Qualifications:
3 year diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field.
Minimum of five years experience in the following;
working in employment field supporting individuals with job search/career advising
Advanced problem solving, assessment and evaluation skills
Experience public speaking and developing presentations
High degree of professionalism and diplomacy
Knowledge of Canadian labour market, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Lambton College programs, employment trends and marketing techniques
Strong technical skills - ability to navigate and troubleshoot multiple systems to support department operations.
Experience with Microsoft Teams, D2L, Colleague and Orbis are an asset.
