The Cook/Bartender/Server/Front-End Staff member plays a key operational role at the Lakeside Inn as part of both the kitchen and front-of-house teams. This hybrid position is responsible for preparing quality food, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, assisting with serving and bartending as scheduled, and providing basic hotel guest services during off-peak seasons. Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to switch between duties smoothly are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen & Food Preparation
Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
Ensure all food items are handled, prepared, and stored safely and in compliance with food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including sanitizing surfaces, washing dishes, and managing waste.
Complete kitchen refills and restocking (condiments, prep items, supplies, paper goods, etc.).
Monitor product levels and communicate low stock or required orders to management.
Front-of-House / Serving
Serve customers in the dining room during slow periods when a dedicated server is not scheduled.
Greet guests promptly, take orders, run food, and process payments using the POS system.
Maintain dining room cleanliness, including wiping tables, sweeping/mopping floors, and refilling beverage stations.
Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional guest service at all times.
Bartending (As Scheduled or During Busy Periods)
Operate the bar during evening shifts or when assigned by management.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following provincial serving regulations.
Maintain bar cleanliness, restock bar supplies, and track inventory needs.
Verify guest identification and follow all responsible service-of-alcohol guidelines.
Hotel Front-End Support (Slow Season or As Needed)
Complete basic guest check-ins and check-outs using the property management system.
Provide friendly and informative customer service to hotel guests.
Assist with lobby tidiness and restocking guest amenities when required.
General Operations & Cleaning
Maintain overall cleanliness of front-end spaces including dining areas, washrooms, and entryways.
Sweep, mop, sanitize surfaces, and follow daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
Complete dishwashing duties when required.
Follow all safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
Assist in other areas of the business as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience in cooking, serving, bartending,
Hospitality is an asset (cross-training available).
Ability to multitask and switch between roles depending on shift requirements.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Comfortable using a POS system (training provided).
Food Handlers Certificate
Smart Serve certification (required for bartending duties).
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment & Expectations
Must be available for a mix of daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Flexibility to adapt to seasonal business needs (busier in summers, quieter in winters).
Must maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Reliability and punctuality are essential.
