Koffie is looking for a Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our team. We have an open kitchen serving simply prepared fresh and fast food. We've developed a reputation for great food and service we'd like to take to our business to the next level as we launch a wine bar in the new year.
We're looking for someone who has some kitchen experience, enjoys working with a small team and who works well under pressure. The job will entail a variety of tasks including baking, cooking meals to order, sandwich preparation and keeping the kitchen clean. Creativity is valued but providing our customers with consistent quality is our main goal. This position will require weekend mornings (our brunch service is 8am-12pm) as well as weekday mornings as required. Baking skills or a strong interest in desserts would be a definite asset.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook brunch and sandwich items according to established recipes and menu specifications.
Ensure all food handling and preparation practices comply with food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment.
Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service during peak hours.
Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.
Participate in training new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety protocols.
Experience
Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail with a passion for creating delicious meals that meet customer expectations.
