Position Overview
Connecting Dots Foundation is seeking a reliable, organized, and safety-minded
Daycare Cook
to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in our licensed childcare program. The ideal candidate is passionate about children's health, follows food safety standards, and enjoys working in a team-oriented environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMeal Preparation & Planning
Prepare daily meals and snacks following approved menus and dietary guidelines.
Modify meals as needed for allergies, dietary restrictions, and cultural needs.
Assist in menu planning in accordance with Canada's Food Guide (or provincial guidelines).
Food Safety & Kitchen Management
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen environment.
Follow all food safety, storage, and handling protocols.
Complete required kitchen logs, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and inventory records.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the Daycare Supervisor and educators to coordinate meal times.
Communicate any food-related concerns, shortages, or allergy issues effectively.
Support a positive, inclusive environment for children and staff.
Qualifications
Experience preparing meals in a daycare, school, or commercial kitchen setting (preferred).
Food Handler Certification
(required or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for children.
Ability to plan and prepare meals efficiently for groups.
Clear
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
.
Strong organization, time management, and sanitation skills.
Assets (Preferred, Not Required)
Experience working in childcare or early childhood settings.
Knowledge of allergy protocols and safe food handling for children with dietary restrictions.
Ability to accommodate culturally diverse diets.
