Job Description

Summary of Position



The Cook assists in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. They perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. They are quick, diligent, and willing to improve while following instructions. Must possess a positive attitude, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously and working as a team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities



Label and stock delivered ingredients to storage areas in an organized and accessible fashion. Follow prep lists created by Chefs to plan daily duties. Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc. Follow standardized recipes provided by measuring ingredients accurately and adhering to methods highlighted in the production kitchen's binders. Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc. Set up and stock stations efficiently with all necessary mise en place for the day in an organized fashion. Prepare dishes during service in the outdoor kitchen such as salads, sandwiches, and pizzas or during events in the production kitchen such as appetizers, mains and desserts. Ensure that food is prepared to a high quality and in a timely fashion. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by resetting your station after tasks, washing dishes when necessary, sanitizing surfaces, taking out garbage, recycling and compost. Keep food items stocked and rotated adequately to ensure freshness of product. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly. Comply with all nutrition and sanitation guidelines. Maintain a positive and professional approach with other Lightfoot & Wolfville team members and guests. Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience



1 - 2 years or more experience in relevant roles is an advantage Proficiency in English, multilingual (specifically French) is an asset

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
