Primary Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and approved menus
Ensure all meals meet community standards for quality and presentation
Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef on food and dining programs
Participate in pre-meal stand up meetings in the kitchen prior to service
Document food temperatures before service
Kitchen Management
Maintain kitchen, food storage, and preparation areas in clean, safe condition
Handle opening and/or closing duties for the kitchen
Follow assigned cleaning schedules
Maintain clean kitchen floors and regular trash disposal
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
Inventory & Storage
Receive, store, and prepare food according to company standards
Estimate daily/weekly food and supply needs
Communicate inventory requirements to Executive Chef/Sous Chef
Assist with transportation and storage of food and supplies
Monitor and document refrigeration/freezer temperatures
Resident Service
Ensure snacks and beverages are available to residents 24/7
Assist with special events, banquets, and theme meals
Support overall resident satisfaction with food service
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to standard food safety practices
Maintain clean and sanitary work environment
Follow all company protocols and procedures
Document all required temperatures and safety checks
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
1-2 years cooking experience in hospitality or healthcare environment
Current Food Handler's Permit (as required by provincial law)
Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
Capable of reading and following:
Recipes
Production guides
Cleaning schedules
Documentation logs
Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service
Physical ability to perform essential job functions
