Job Description

Mission Services of London is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to serving residents of London and Middlesex County with compassion and dignity. Rotholme Family Shelter of Mission Services of London has an opening for a regular part-time Cook 1 position. This role is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of nutritious meals and snacks, in accordance with public health standards and internal policies. This position will work under the supervision of the Shelter's Food Services Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook, and serve meals in a cafeteria-style kitchen Maintain kitchen cleanliness during and at the end of each shift Clean and sanitize food preparation and service areas according to public health and safety guidelines Follow established systems for labeling, storage, sorting, and disposal of food items Conduct and record daily temperature checks for fridges, freezers, and food storage areas Ensure all food handling practices comply with Public Health standards Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive kitchen environment

Qualifications:

Valid Food Handler's Certificate Experience in a commercial kitchen, with the ability to prepare meals from scratch using both fresh ingredients and donated/pre-prepared items Strong communication and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to resolve minor conflicts Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing kitchen needs Possess a personable style and a sense of empathy for the clients of Mission Services.

Position Details:

Regular Part-time - 16 hours per week - Weekends (Sat- Sun).
