Experience in a professional kitchen is not necessary, but an asset. Ample knowledge and a willingness to learn about food safety, professionalism and respect is a must, as well as an open-minded approach to adopting new trends and techniques. Coaching and training will be an integral part of the role, to ensure all parts of the BOH team are maintaining and enhancing The Carleton's reputation as an unforgettable place to visit. Training and guidance towards Red Seal Certification is provided for those interested.

The Day to day:
• Setting up and maintaining a well-stocked workstation.
• Performs delegated tasks by Sous-Chef and Chef.
• Prepping all parts of successful service, adhering to high levels of food safety standards.
• Assist in receiving and storing delivered items.
• Assist in food inventory control.
• Coming to work prepared to learn and improve.
• Actively researching and learning about trends, classics and gaining new knowledge.
• Providing timely and accurate orders.
• Working respectfully alongside the FOH team to provide the best guest-focused service possible.
About you:
• Must be willing to challenge yourself to new goals.
• Are comfortable with physical demands that include but are not limited to: walking and standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, repetitive twisting and lifting, stairs and repetitive arm movements.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs.
• Must be punctual, reliable, have ability to work as a team and independently.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when necessary.
• Culinary diploma/degree is considered an asset

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Full-time position, shift length approximately 8.5h
• Must be available to work weekdays, weekends and some holidays
