The ideal candidate will plan and prepare nutritious meals, source fresh ingredients, and maintain kitchen safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Meal Planning and Preparation
- Plan balanced and age-appropriate meals and snacks that adhere to dietary guidelines and food safety regulations.
- Prepare meals that accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and cultural preferences.
- Serve meals in an appealing and timely manner.
Sourcing Ingredients
- Source high-quality, fresh, and seasonal ingredients from local suppliers when possible.
- Manage food inventory, ensuring consistent stock of essential items while minimizing waste.
- Track expenses and work within a designated food budget.
Kitchen Safety and Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Follow food handling and sanitation protocols to ensure safe meal preparation.
- Regularly inspect kitchen equipment and report any maintenance needs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in meal preparation, cooking, or a related culinary role (experience cooking for children is an asset).
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- Ability to plan nutritious meals with an understanding of dietary needs for children.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform light cleaning tasks.
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Food Handler's Certificate (required or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
