JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced Controls Specialist - Product Support to join our team. As a key member of the Engineering team, you will provide support for all SuperTrak Conveyance Systems and related technologies that involves mechanics, electronics, software and integration with PLC\'s. You will develop new systems and support both internal and external customers with integration, field support and training.

In this role, you will support new product developments through testing efforts and coordinating with engineering and manufacturing to make improvements. You will also assist with pre-sales applications to verify system simulations and quotes. As part of the role, you will resolve product and service concerns and/or opportunities by utilizing product knowledge and organization acumen. In addition, you will be responsible to drive cross functional development projects from kickoff to operations handover for the ATS SuperTrak Group. As part of this role you will be responsible for driving project plans, while ensuring that all project team members understand critical milestones, risks, and activities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide, PLC integration support and product training.
  • Product field support which involves working with customers and internal engineering to find solutions to customer needs and problems. This is typically phone support with travel as required.
  • Perform product development for PLC platforms.
  • Test new hardware and software developments prior to release to market.
  • Review, recommend and make changes to electrical design packages.
  • Assist with the generation of product documentation.
  • Identify training needs for the department and assist with training development programs.
  • Develop curriculum and perform customer training.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under general direction, responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects.
  • Focus on three Key Performance Indicators for all projects they lead: On-time Delivery, On-Budget and Stakeholder Satisfaction; ensure that the requirements were all met.
  • A primary stakeholder and collaborator in defining project scope and objectives.
  • Central contact for assigned projects. Maintain regular contact (verbal and written) with key stakeholders, ensuring all key project events and issues are documented in writing.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to project team.
  • Project Planning. Oversee project schedule development and identify all critical path activities.
  • Conduct Initial Project Build Plan meeting.
  • Manage project resources. Ensure that adequate resources are assigned to all project tasks.
  • Drive effective project team communication on a regular basis.
  • Manage projects and project teams in accordance with all applicable ATS procedures. Ensure project teams follow the required procedures.
Additional Information

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • A post-secondary engineering or technologist diploma, specializing in mechanical, electronics/electrical, mechatronics or related discipline.
Relevant Experience:
  • 3+ years of in field product level support.
  • Troubleshooting skills with systems involving mechanics, electronics and controls software.
  • Automation Studio programming experience an asset.
  • Computer programming experience with C, VB.NET and C# an asset.
  • PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens, and Beckhoff.
  • Working knowledge of electronic test equipment, electronic troubleshooting and basic repair is an asset.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics an asset.
  • Equivalent technical training & experience in client relations.
  • Complete understanding of Job Scheduling, Process and procedures, and problem resolution.
