Position Duties:
The Jr. Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for assisting with the design, development, programming, and maintenance of industrial automation and control systems used in manufacturing and process environments. This role assists in ensuring that automated systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently while supporting production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.* The Jr. Controls Engineer works closely with management, operations, maintenance, engineering, and external vendors to implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support system upgrades and expansions. The position plays a key role in assisting to optimize plant performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.* Assist in the Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems* Assist in the development and modification of HMI and SCADA applications* Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls-related issues* Support equipment startups, upgrades, and retrofits* Create and maintain control system documentation (P&IDs, I/O lists, control narratives)* Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers* Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes* Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams* Assist in the management of automation-related projects and coordinate with vendors* Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives* Assist with On-site issue coordination and resolution, punch listing, participate in coordination meetings, track and monitor progress schedule(s), etc.* Assist in the resolution of engineering issues through all engineering disciplines.* Assist with on-site Engineering Meetings to facilitate all Engineering responsibilities and to support Customer for schedule adherence.* Continue training and adding to knowledge base.* Assist in specification reviews for the purpose of developing installation plans for new equipment, and/ or modification of existing equipment within manufacturing facilities.* Willing to get a Visa to work in the US and support our US office when needed.* Assist in Bid package development.*
Skills and Experience Required:
PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar)* HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware, etc.)* Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet)* Electrical schematics and panel design* Instrumentation and sensor integration* Motion control and VFD configuration* Safety systems (safety PLCs, interlocks, E-stops)* Troubleshooting automated equipment in live production environments*
Software & Tools :
PLC programming software (Studio 5000, TIA Portal, etc.)* CAD or EPLAN for electrical drawings* Version control and backup systems* Basic scripting or data integration (SQL, Python, OPC UA - asset dependent)*
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills* Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams* Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders* Strong attention to detail and documentation* Ability to manage priorities in fast-paced environments* Willingness to support off-hours or on-call troubleshooting as required*
Additional Skills:

Qualifications:
Associates/Bachelors/ Masters in applicable field
EIT or other plans
Experience 0-3 years
Must be willing to travel 50-100% of the time for work in Ontario
