Job Description

PBN Construction is needing an experienced and detail-driven

Controller

to join our construction company. The Controller will lead the accounting and financial administration functions, with a strong focus on

accounts payable oversight, accounts receivable management, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement

. This role also provides leadership to the administrative team and supports the CFO in audits, tax remittances, and strategic decision-making.

Position Overview:


Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller/Accounting Assitant will be heavily involved in accounts payable while providing support and managing the corporate services team which includes administration, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role ensures that all accounting and corporate services functions are accurate, compliant, and efficiently integrated, with information consistently flowing up to the CFO for decision-making and reporting purposes.

Financial Management & Reporting



Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management. Support the CFO with audit preparation, financial statements, and compliance reporting. Ensure accurate GST and PST remittances and other government filings. Maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures in line with company policies and industry standards.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Leadership



Oversee and lead the

accounts payable function

, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payments to vendors and subcontractors. Monitor and manage

accounts receivable

, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation. Develop and maintain processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability across AP/AR functions.

Compliance & Audit



Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations, financial policies, and contractual obligations. Assist the CFO with external and internal audits, providing accurate documentation and financial data. Oversee lien management and subcontractor compliance where required.

Team Leadership & Administration



Manage, coach, and support the administrative staff to ensure effective day-to-day operations. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance and administration team. Collaborate with project managers and other leaders to support financial decision-making and project cost tracking.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation (or working towards it) is considered an asset. Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management Strong knowledge of accounts payable/receivable and financial reporting processes. Previous accounting software experience specifically Quickbooks Desktop would be considered an asset. Demonstrated experience managing staff and corporate functions. Proficiency with accounting systems and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
