Financial Controller
Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will play a key role in shaping financial strategy while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. This role offers meaningful influence, strong mentorship, and long-term career growth for the right individual.
Responsibilities:
The Financial Controller is responsible for:

  • Leading all accounting and finance functions for the organization, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and policies to safeguard company assets.
  • Overseeing the preparation of timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Providing clear, insightful financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership.
  • Establishing financial and operational benchmarks, budgets, forecasts, and reporting standards.
  • Reviewing payroll reporting prior to processing to ensure accuracy and compliance with employment and government regulations.
  • Designing and maintaining internal control systems to prevent errors and financial misstatements.
  • Analyzing financial results to assess performance against targets and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducting financial analysis and due diligence to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Building, mentoring, and leading the accounting and finance team; implementing scalable processes and controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements including CRA, GST, and PST.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Providing regular communication and reporting to the parent company's finance leadership.
Requirements:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred but not required for this opportunity. Appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing, construction and job-costing environment.
  • Strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems; experience with reporting or dashboard tools is an asset.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner across the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
