Our client, a reputable and well-established group of companies, is seeking a dedicated, experienced and hands-on Controller to join their team in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, and payroll
  • Job costing and general ledger maintenance
  • Oversee project budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis
  • Preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial efficiency and job profitability
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing needs
  • Work with external auditors and manage year-end audit processes
  • Provide financial insight and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a similar real estate and/or property development environment
  • Proficient in accounting software, including Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Ability to think big-picture while managing the day-to-day details
  • A proactive mindset and passion for innovation
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
