About the Role





As a Controller at Enkel, you will be the internal finance eyes and ears for your clients. You will own client relationships, guiding them through compliance requirements and helping them navigate change with confidence. You will use technology to create dashboards, uncover automation opportunities, and deliver insights that drive smarter business decisions.



You will also play a leadership role within Enkel by training, mentoring, and reviewing the work of junior bookkeeping staff. This is a role for someone who is passionate about client service, embraces technology, and wants to contribute to a firm where cloud accounting expertise and people development come together to make an impact.

Responsibilities




Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building trusted relationships and providing ongoing financial guidance


Lead client meetings to review financial statements, discuss business challenges, and provide actionable insights

Train, mentor, and review the work of junior bookkeeping staff to ensure high-quality deliverables

Develop and implement custom dashboards to track KPIs, cash flow, and business performance

Identify and execute automation opportunities using cloud-based tools to increase efficiency

Support clients with year-end reviews and audits, gathering documentation and liaising with external providers

Partner with the Client Success Team to onboard new clients and establish effective processes
Participate in technical accounting discussions and provide practical, client-focused solutions


What You Bring




At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with prior client service experience (ideally in public practice)


CPA designation (or equivalent recognized accounting designation)
Demonstrate a strong understanding of

ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises)

and, ideally,

ASNPO (Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations)

to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting across diverse client needs.
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and/or Xero, with familiarity in tools such as Dext and Plooto

A passion for cloud accounting, technology, and client service

Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff

Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to listen, advise, and build trust
A proactive mindset, with the ability to spot process improvements and automation opportunities


Compensation and Work Environment





Annual salary between $100,000 and $120,000, depending on experience


Hybrid work arrangement consisting of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home
Candidates must be located in Canada and eligible to work in Canada. Applicants outside Canada will not be considered
