Controller
to lead our accounting function and drive the financial success of the Company.
Position Overview:
The
Controller
will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations, and reporting directly to the President. You will play a key role in the company's financial health by ensuring accurate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on role that requires a process-minded professional with superior organizational and documentation skills, a strong customer service focus, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting operations
including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations and general ledger management.
Be a business partner
to the rest of the company by analyzing data and creating reports to advise and inform stakeholders.
Banking:
maintain relationships with our bankers.
Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Develop, document and implement
business process improvements, including optimization of an ERP system.
Develop and manage the company's annual budget
and financial forecasts, providing analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Maintain cash flow forecasting
to ensure efficient management of working capital.
Prepare financial reports
for the President, providing insights on company performance, variances, and trends.
Oversee
compliance with tax regulations
and coordinate the preparation of tax filings.
Support internal controls
and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
Guide and mentor junior accounting staff
, fostering a culture of development.
Collaborate with other departments to provide
financial guidance
and support for business initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, or a related field
(accounting designation is an asset).
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of
ASPE and IFRS
and accounting principles.
Experience in
budgeting, forecasting
, and financial analysis.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to
present financial data
clearly.
Strong proficiency using
Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to
multi-task
and meet deadlines.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday - 8 hours per day, starting at 0800, 0830, 0900 or 0930, as agreed upon between the employee and their manager.
Minimum hours of work each week is 40, unless otherwise agreed to between the employee and their manager.
Employee may be required to work additional hours, including weekends, when required.
Work is on location, with some flexibility for individual circumstances.
