Job Description

The Controller reports to the President and performs highly responsible supervisory work in general accounting, tax, cash flow reporting and financial analysis. The Controller is responsible for the preparation of financial reports and correcting discrepancies in information, developing accounting policies and procedures, assigning work to the accounting team, supervising staff in the maintenance of accounting and financial records, and interpreting and applying company policies and procedures. The Controller also performs related work as required in support of the finance team\'s overall responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

\xc2\xb7 Manage and oversee the accounting team, supervising and reviewing accounting and financial records.

\xc2\xb7 Completing accounting operations such as AP/AR/Payroll

\xc2\xb7 Oversee and develop the accounting operations including implementation of accounting policies, internal controls, financial reporting, and tax compliance.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain and review financial records and provide senior management and stakeholders with financial reporting.

\xc2\xb7 Work with the operations teams to develop and maintain accurate budgets and forecasts to generate accurate financial updates and status reports.

\xc2\xb7 Review and manage the preparation of financial reporting requirements.

\xc2\xb7 Review and analyze the regular reporting of cash flows, project profitability, and performance against KPIs.

\xc2\xb7 Make suggestions for the enhancement of accounting policies, procedures and systems.

\xc2\xb7 Develop a thorough understanding of the business and strategic priorities.

\xc2\xb7 Other projects and activities as required by the President.

Requirements

\xc2\xb7 CPA designation is required

\xc2\xb7 3+ years of direct experience in construction accounting and financial reporting in the construction industry

\xc2\xb7 Thorough knowledge of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise), accounting functions and Canadian income tax compliance requirements

\xc2\xb7 Proficient with QuickBooks Online
