A valid driver's license is required, as well as a criminal record check upon hiring. The successful candidate must be willing to work full-time in the office, as this position requires on-site work. Must also be willing to travel for training.
Please note: On-site testing will be a required part of the interviewing process. This will consist of 3 tests (3-4 hours total required) that will assess typing speed and accuracy, and also include a Controller Skills test.
Wage will be based on qualifications and experience.
What You'll Do:
Manage and optimize our payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payments.
Perform detailed account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of our financial records.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring smooth and efficient transactions.
Process and analyze expenses (managing all costs outside of trading), while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
Resolve contract-related issues and disputes.
Prepare insightful progress reports and financial projections for senior management.
Financial reporting to the CEO.
Ensure compliance with the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) regulatory reporting requirements.
Provide logistics and dispatch support to enhance operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be expected to quickly learn and understand the industry-specific accounting system (training is available) and be open to continuously learning and improving skills.
What You'll Bring:
Experience with the software application "NewBOS" would be considered a very strong asset.
Keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Must be able to work both independently and as a part of a team.
A complete grasp of accounting principles is required, with a background in finance and/or accounting.
Proficient typing skills (60+ wpm).
5+ years of relevant experience.
CPA designation not required but highly desirable.
